Presentation for 7/2: Carol Apinis from Yellow Brick Place
July we will focus on healthcare. Today we have Carol Apinis from Yellow Brick Place joining us.

Yellow Brick Place was founded by two cancer survivors, who after going through treatment out of town, realized that our area was in desperate need of a cancer wellness center. Their vision was to provide non-medical support services, free of charge, to cancer survivors and their loved ones along their cancer journey. Such centers exist in Cleveland, Toledo, and Akron, but when you are newly diagnosed, sick, and scared, those places are just too far away.

Yellow Brick Place supports and educates cancer patients and those closest to them by providing individual and group services in the tri-county area of Mahonig, Trumbull, and Columbiana Counties.

Free programs include:
  • Consultation with Professional Counselors

Scholarship Recipient: Taylor Thomas

Taylor is a graduate of Springfield High School. She would like to thank Bill and the Boardman Rotary for the scholarship. Taylor is a singer, pursuing a career in music. She will be attending Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida in the fall. Bachelor’s degree will be in Recording Arts. Her major will allow her to combine singing and recording arts to boost herself. There are 44 Oscar and Emmy awarded projects just this year alone from graduates and students at Full Sail. A lot of musicians donate back their plaques to the university, and seeing all of them line the halls inspired Taylor.

Paul Harris Fellow Recipients

Congratulations to Mason Shattuck and Josh Aikens, Paul Harris Fellow Recipients. Both received the recognition at the President’s Party on Friday, June 28th.

The Paul Harris Fellow recognition acknowledges individuals who contribute, or who have contributions made in their name, of $1,000 to The Rotary Foundation.

Rotary established the recognition in 1957 to encourage and show appreciation for substantial contributions to what was then the Foundation’s only program, Rotary Foundation Fellowships for Advanced Study, the precursor to Ambassadorial Scholarships.
