Youngstown's very first marathon will take place on June 4, 2017. Courtney Poullas, race director and president/founder of Youngstown Marathon Foundation, spoke to Rotary about the event and the planned impact on the area's fitness, health and economy.

Though the marathon is one day, there is a full weekend of activity planned, including a health and fitness expo, a Kids' Dash and a sponsors' reception.

Each race - half marathon, full marathon, 5k and Kids' Dash - has a generous cut-off time, and has a unique race corse. Each will be monitored by Boardman Township Police, Youngstown City Police and Mil Creek MetroParks law enforcement. There will also be full medical on-course and at the finish line.

There are close to 700 registrations currently with hopes for more than 1000 registrants.
